NCSOS 3-R Community Day School
About | Events & Classes | Contact UsThe NCSOS 3-R Community Day School (3-R: Rehabilitate, Renew, Reinstate), is a community day school for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who have been referred by or expelled by their district of residence. Classes are open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The school is located at 792 Searls Avenue in Nevada City.
It is the intent of the 3-R Community Day School to provide an alternative school placement for these students with the goal of improving their academic, civic and social skills. 3-R School will provide support for rehabilitation, which will eventually renew and enable students to be successfully reinstated in mainstream education. The community service projects and positive alternative activities students will be engaged in help build rapport, teamwork and trust among and with peers, as well as with the larger community, while increasing students’ sense of civic responsibility.
The success of students enrolled in the 3-R Community Day School is dependent upon complete communication and cooperation between the 3-R School, the district of residence staff, students, and parents. Therefore, progress reports will be issued mid-trimester reporting on math, English/language arts, and social studies, as well as in behavior, attitude, and community service projects. The reports indicate a student’s progress and areas in need of improvement and are given to the district of residence and parents. Parent involvement is further emphasized through parent/teacher/student conferences, as needed.
3-R Community Day School has an expectation that student behavior will be appropriate to the school culture established during the school year. Student behaviors determine any modifications necessary to the general expectation plan. As the school year progresses, the staff will continuously monitor the school culture and make appropriate behavior plan changes as needed. All changes to the behavior plan will be communicated to the student population as clearly and quickly as possible.
The 3-R School Community Day School will provide structure, guidance and opportunities for the students to be better prepared and experience success as they advance into their educational futures.
