The Geography tournament for seventh graders features a written team test as well as an oral “Jeopardy” style quiz for one student from each team. The Spelling tournament offers students in grades five through eight a chance to compete ending with the top students participating in an oral spelling “Bee”.

The Math tournament quizzes fifth through eighth graders in Problem Solving, Geometry and Computation. The Writing tournament tests seventh and eighth grade students on their creative and letter writing skills as well as listening to a speaker and then writing a summary of the presentation.

At the Speech tournament, students in grades four through eight deliver their well-practiced speeches. Later, the top three students make a final presentation before their parents, teachers and members of local Toastmaster groups.

These tournaments are made possible for area students thanks to community support. Local businesses pay for awards and food and individuals from county businesses volunteer their time. Because of the generosity of these groups and individuals, many students have had the opportunity to be recognized for their hard work.
