About | Events & Classes | Contact Us | SEAC | SEPACThe Nevada County Special Education Local Planning Area (SELPA) is committed to providing the leadership and support necessary to create and sustain high-quality educational programs for children with special needs. In achieving this goal, the SELPA works closely with school districts, educational staff, parents and families, and community agencies. Functions of the SELPA include the following:
- Facilitation and coordination of special education leadership groups within the county
- Support for families including information regarding the IEP process, and meaningful participation in their child’s educational program
- Regional special education staff development
- Development of policies and procedures
- Interagency coordination
- Fiscal management of special education funds
- Program Specialist support for students and districts
- Assistance with problem solving and conflict resolution relating to the IEP process
